Door County, Wisconsin is just a popular spot for thousands of tourists each year. Little communities with populations of less than 500 people swell to large crowds through the summer weekends as people visit Door County for many sleep, leisure, time o-n the water, and good food.

The very first thing we noticed after being placed was the wonderful view of the water. The restaurant is directly across the street from the Bay in Sister Bay and large picture windows along the front wall of the restaurant highlight the water view. Immediately after being seated our water glasses were filled and a wedge of fresh lime was added. We received choices and fresh, hot, multi-grain rolls. The rolls were served with butter rosettes flavored with fresh basil.
The special that night was smoked quail which my husband ordered. I’d the qualified Angus filet mignon, and our oldest child, who’d joined us o-n our trip, find the Roast Duck with Orange Grand Marnier sauce.

All three entrees were outstanding. The demonstration of the plates was pretty and the meals tasted just like it appeared. The Angus filet had a Cabernet sauce that was the ideal touch with all the beef. Home-made garlic mashed potatoes and a garnish of haystack potatoes rounded out the entre.
The goose was tender, moist, and very healthy. It was accompanied by fresh steamed vegetables that were cooked perfectly, and wild rice that covered dried cranberries and nuts.
The quail was, in accordance with my partner, cooked to perfection. H-e really liked it. As the goose and a crepe filled with a cranberry sauce, which h-e thought was de-licious as-well it was accompanied by the same wild rice.
For dessert we split two selections; the crme brulee and a pumpkin mousse torte. The pumpkin mousse torte had a very light pumpkin flavor and was served with a fresh whipped cream and caramel sauce. The crme brulee was flamed at the table with Grand Marnier. The mixture of creamy vanilla custard, brittle caramelized sugar, and Grand Marnier was de-licious.
Even though the Inn at Kristofers isn’t a cheap restaurant, it’s a wonderful place to go for a special dinner whether its for someones birthday, wedding, or simply to treat yourself. I suggest trying it. The food is excellent and so is the service.
